Pascal Goergen, founder and head of the GPM company, is a passionate entrepreneur who puts his European and regional experience at the service of his clients. Promoter of the regional dimension, he has a very deep knowledge of the regional world in Europe. His different missions abroad make him an expert in the needs and assets of the regional & local actors in the 300 European regions. Holder of a PhD in Political Science, he has been teaching on European institutions for nearly 20 years and has written several books about Europe.

Pascal Goergen as a regional promoter

For nearly 20 years, he has defended and promoted the regional dimension in Europe. Co-founder of the thematic networks ERRIN and NEREUS, Secretary General of REGLEG (2010), AER (2011-2014) and FEDRA since 2015, he has in depth knowledge of the world of the regional key players, whether public, private or even academic. Interconnecting them via a digital platform will enable these players to unlock their potential and create growth and jobs.

This international non-profit association aims at filling the gap between Europe and the local and regional key players. Dissemination of projects/best practices to 20,000 key regional players all over Europe on the one hand and the Brussels based regional expertise hub on the other hand are the two main pillars of FEDRA. The “Regional Flavours Initiative”, the “Young Regional Ambassadors Initiative” and the “Regional Growth Session at the European Business Summit” are some of the key activities of FEDRA.

Pascal Goergen as a professor

Professor

Doctor in Political Science (UCL – Louvain-la-Neuve), he has been teaching Business German & Dutch. He was a scientific assistent at the University of Namur, at UCL University and published his thesis after having spent a year at the University of Cologne. Since 1987, he has been a professor at the EPHEC Business School in Brussels. He has also been an external speaker at the European Commission for 10 years.

Author of several books on Europe, his aim is to share his knowledge and professional experience within the EU institutions: he will explain in a pedagogical way to his students but also to European citizens how the EU works, how to better understand the decision-making process of the European Union, explain how to organize lobbying campaigns, how to set up a network or how to approach the EU officials…

Who am I?

Born in Cologne in 1963 and father of 3 children, he is currently the Secretary General of FEDRA, the Federation of Regional Growth Actors in Europe and professor at the EPHEC University College (Business and Marketing) in Brussels. Between end 2011 and 2014, he was the Secretary General of the Assembly of European Regions (AER). Previously (2000-2011), he worked as Diplomat in the Permanent Representation of Belgium within the European Union for the Brussels-Capital Region. Author of several publications such as “Lobbying in Brussels” and “Networking in Brussels”, he is currently heavily involved in several key European dossiers: regional policy, research policy, the EU 2020 Strategy, the Euro-Mediterranean and Eastern partnerships and multi-level governance.
